No Way Back: The Journey of a Jew From Baghdad
The memoir "The Journey of a Jew from Baghdad" details the incredible journey of a Jewish refugee from Iraq who was forced from his birthplace and left to forage his own path leaving behind family and precious possessions while in search of freedom.
Once leaving Iraq in 1951, Khazzoom vowed never to return. Living first in Israel and then eventually immigrating to the United States, he established himself as an academic and was the first Israeli accepted to Harvard University, graduating with a PhD in Economics. A current resident of the Bay Area, and board member of JIMENA, Khazzoom has taught at various universities across North America including the University of California, Berkeley.
Khazzoom’s story details the injustice experienced by the one million Jewish refugees from Arab countries and the horrors of violence they witnessed. His memoir highlights the theme of religious intolerance and discrimination and depicts the violence of Iraqi society during his childhood and persisting today.
