Description: With Autumn or Fall weather, depending on which side of the pond you reside, chasing the last vestiges of summer away in a flurry of colour, we look forward, if that is indeed the right word, to the Chancellor’s budget on the 27th of October and we wait and see what pensions news he gives us then. Good or bad we will be reporting on the Budget as always. Our cover story is from Kieran McGing from PwC and Clara Hughes from PIC, asking do actuaries have what it takes to survive in today’s tech jungle? Continuing the theme on technology is Man v Machine from Dave Ovenden at Willis Towers Watson looks at striking a balance between people-focussed and automated processes. Ed Harrison from LCP examines the challenge ESG gives insurers whilst our other regulars tackle subjects, amongst others, such as Dale Critchley casting his gaze over how small schemes must give value for money and Fiona Tait returns with her article over an issue asking why so few divorces result in a pension sharing order. We trust that you enjoy this month’s issue and no doubt we will have plenty of reflection on the Budget in our next issue, we look forward to welcoming you back then.
